About mybook.bot

Personalized stories starring the people you actually know — or anyone you invent.

Most AI writing tools give you generic, forgettable characters. mybook.bot does the opposite — it turns your friends, family, pets, or whoever lives in your head into the cast of a story that could only be theirs. Building it together is the fun part.

Privacy first — really

Built in from line 1

We’re writing about real people — including kids, in some cases — and we treat that the way it deserves. Privacy isn’t a section in the settings menu. It’s part of the foundation the app is built on.

  • ·No training on your stuff. The LLM providers we call are configured with no-train flags. Your stories, characters, and answers don’t become someone else’s model weights.
  • ·You own everything. Stories, characters, drafts, audio — all yours. Export it anywhere, anytime. Delete it and it’s actually gone.
  • ·Tight by default. Every row in our database is locked to its owner via Postgres row-level security. Sensitive fields are encrypted at rest with a dedicated key, never the database’s. Service-role code paths are kept out of anything a browser can reach.
  • ·No third-party trackers, no ad pixels, no creepy retargeting. We’re funded by the people who want to write books. That’s the whole business model.
  • ·What you write about someone stays private to youunless you choose to share the story. The questionnaire answers a friend fills in about themselves are theirs; what you write privately about them isn’t shared back.

The Privacy Center is live: one-click JSON export of everything you own and a typed-email delete-account flow that wipes every row instantly. If you have an account, you’ll find it under Account → Privacy.

What you can do

  • 01.Build a real cast — or invent one. Fill in a short questionnaire for each character, send it to the actual person to fill in themselves, or just write a fictional one from scratch. Pets get their own profiles too.
  • 02.Pick a story type & tone. Adventure, mystery, romance, comedy, heartwarming, sci-fi, fantasy, slice-of-life. Three sliders set the tone (light vs serious, whimsical vs gritty, fast vs reflective). Children’s modes available too.
  • 03.Sketch the outline. A craft-tuned model sketches a numbered beat list with real story structure — try/fail cycles, midpoint reversal, the works. You revise it until it’s right.
  • 04.Write the full draft. A heavier reasoning model turns the approved outline into prose, anchored in your cast and tone. Iterate on the draft as much as you want — it remembers what you’ve said.
  • 05.Listen to it, share it, gift it. One click renders an MP3 audiobook. Download or share it. PDF export is coming next. Birthday gift, bedtime story, inside joke, novella draft — whatever you want it to be.

Total fair warning: the first time you read a story you wrote featuring people you actually know, it’s a little bit magic. We can’t un-promise that.

Frequently asked

01.What is mybook.bot?
It’s a writing platform that turns the people you love — or the ones you invent — into the actual characters of a personalized story. You bring the cast and a rough idea; mybook.bot helps you outline, draft, revise, and (optionally) hear it read aloud. It’s ridiculously fun to use, in the way that doodling on a napkin in a coffee shop is fun.
02.Do my characters have to be real people?
Nope. The questionnaire works the same for an actual human, your favorite cousin’s dog, or a wholly invented detective with a mysterious past and a fondness for jazz. Real, made-up, half-and-half — write the book that’s in your head, however that cast looks.
03.How does it know my friends, family, or pets?
Two ways. You can fill in a short questionnaire about each person yourself, or invite them to fill it in about themselves. Either way, you end up with a character card that captures the small, specific details — the things that make a character feel like a real person instead of an AI archetype.
04.How is this different from just typing a prompt into ChatGPT?
Generic prompts give you generic stories. mybook.bot is a structured loop: pick a story type and tone, build a real cast with depth, get an outline you can iterate on, then turn that outline into a full draft. Every step keeps the people in the story specific and the plot grounded in your actual prompt — not whatever the model thought sounded good.
05.What kinds of stories can I write?
Today: short stories (roughly 1,500–4,000 words) for adults, and children’s stories (text-only at the moment, picture books to come). You pick a sub-type — adventure, mystery, romance, comedy, heartwarming, sci-fi, fantasy, slice-of-life, plus children’s bedtime / adventure / fantasy — and the platform tunes the structure and pacing to match.
06.Do I have to write anything myself?
Only as much as you want. The fastest path is: name the story, pick a type, jot a one-sentence plot prompt, add a couple of characters, click sketch outline, then write the story. The slowest path is: rewrite every line of the questionnaire and revise the outline and draft until it sings. Both work.
07.Can I add my pets?
Absolutely. Pets are first-class characters with their own questionnaire, and the prompt builder treats them like any other member of the cast. Yes, your dog can be the protagonist.
08.Can I get an audiobook?
Yes. Once you have a draft you’re happy with, you can render it to MP3 with a single click and download it. Multi-voice narration (one voice per character) is on the roadmap; today it’s a single, well-tuned narrator.
09.Will the people I write about see what I wrote about them?
Only if you share the story with them. The questionnaire answers someone fills in about themselves are theirs; what you write privately about them isn’t shared back. That’s a deliberate design choice so you can write the gentle birthday-roast story without surprises.
10.What does it cost?
During the private beta: nothing. Pricing for launch is still being designed — there’ll be a free tier, and paid tiers for heavy story generation, audio rendering, and PDF exports.
11.When does it launch?
Soon-ish. Right now we’re in private beta with a small group of testers. If you request access below, you’ll be in the next wave we let in.
12.I requested access — when will I hear back?
Honestly, when we get to it. We’re keeping the group small on purpose so the people in early can actually get our attention when something breaks or feels off.
